3 — CONFIGURATING THE AMPLIFIER AND CONNECTING THE
POWER
3.1 - CHECKING INITIAL CONFIGURATION
NOTE: For a better functional identification of the configuration links and adjustment controls,
see Block Diagrams on page 13.

2. Check that the PAF and PAA plug-in links for input attenuation configuration are in the following
positions:
3. Check that the PSC plug-in link for cable simulation configuration is placed in the "0 dB" position.
4. Check that the ECE variable input equalizer is fully counterclockwise (max action).
5. Check that the ATI variable interstage attenuator is fully counterclockwise (max attenuation).
6. Check that the PPB plug-in link for sloped response configuration is in the "0 dB" position.
7. Check that the ATR variable attenuator and ECR variable equalizer for reverse way signal are fully
counterclockwise (max action).
8. Finally, check that the four plug-in links of the ALSC/RW/INGRESS group are, from left to right, in
the positions 0, 4, 5 and 9 indicated in the internal label E1.
3.2 - CONFIGURATION OF THE RF INPUT
Depending on whether the amplifier must work WITHOUT input bypass, WITH -2.7 dB input bypass or
WITH -4.5 dB input bypass, place the PE1 and PE2 plug-in links in the appropriate positions that are
indicated in the internal label E1, in a graphic way, as "link" (not bypass), "tap" (-2.7 dB bypass) and
"splitter" (-4.5 dB bypass).
3.3 - FORWARD ADDITIONAL AMPLIFICATION
If the amplifier is going to operate with the available 10 dB preamplification stage, place the PAA plug-
in link in the "amplification" position.
3.4 - CONFIGURATION OF THE RF OUTPUT
Depending on whether the amplifier must work with ONE OUTPUT, TWO ASYMMETRICAL
OUTPUTS or TWO SYMMETRICAL OUTPUTS, place the PS1 and PS2 plug-in links in the appropriate
positions that are indicated in the internal label E1, in a graphic way, as "link" (1 output), "tap" (2
asymmetrical outputs) and "splitter" (two symmetrical outputs).
