The Exel "Dynamic" Pump incorporates bellows seals
between the dynamic chamber and the air motor. The
pump should not be pressure fed or even gravity fed.
Pressure fed Exel Dynamic Pumps could experience
bellows failure.
This simplified Exel cross section illustrates
the centered air motor with dynamic chamber,
opposed displacement pistons, and Four-Ball
Check Principle.
1. As the pistons move to the right, the lower
left check is opened. Fluid is drawn in
through the bottom inlet and into the left
block. Fluid is also returned from the left
dynamic chamber to the inlet check.
2. The right block is now pressurized and the
upper right check is opened. Fluid is expelled
from the pump outlet. As this happens, fluid
is also drawn into the right dynamic chamber,
keeping the seal wet.
3. At this stage of the stroke, the upper left and
lower right checks are closed to keep the
fluid flowing towards the pump outlet.
