4. Maintenance
The person who is responsible for cleaning and maintenance
of the equipment must have suitable training and be well
acquainted with work of this type.
4.1 Cleaning
Sundström cleaning tissues SR 5226 are recommended for
daily care.
If the equipment is more heavily fouled, the sweatband can
be washed with a mild soap solution.
If necessary, spray the face shield with 70 % ethanol or
isopropanol solution for desinfection.
Wipe the plastic protective lens carefully, since they are
sensitive to scratching.
Automatic welding filters are very sensitive to moisture.
Use only a dry polishing cloth.
NOTE! Never use solvents for cleaning.
4.2 Storage
After cleaning, store the equipment in a dry and clean place
at room temperature. Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight.

4.3 Maintenance schedule

Recommended minimum requirements on maintenance
routines so you will be certain that the equipment will always
be in usable condition.

4.4 Spare parts

Always use genuine Sundström parts. Do not modify the
equipment. The use of non-genuine parts or modification of
the equipment may reduce the protective function and put at
risk the approvals received by the product.
4.4.1 To change the outer protective lens
• Loosen the screw in the holder for the welding filter. Fig 13.
(SR 592)
• Release and remove the holder for the welding filter. Fig 14.
• Release and remove the outer protective lens. Fig 15, 16.
• Fit the new outer protective lens. Fig. 17, 18.
• Fit the holder. Fig 14.
• Tighten the screw. Fig 19. (SR 592)
4.4.3 To change the welding filter
• Loosen the screw in the holder for the welding filter. Fig 13.

• Release the holder for the welding filter. Fig 14.
• Release and remove the the welding filter. Fig 25.
• Release and remove any inner protective lens. Fig 26.
• Fit any inner protective lens on the inside of the new welding
filter. Fig 27.
• Fit the new welding filter. Fig. 28.
• Fit the holder. Fig 14.
• Tighten the screw. Fig 19. (SR 592)

• Loosen the screw in the holder for the welding filter.

4.4.5 To change the correction lens
• Release and remove the correction lens. Fig 29.
• Fit the new correction lens on the inside of the welding

4.4.6 To change the sweatband
• Remove the sweatband. Fig. 31.
• Fit the sweatband on the head harness. Fig. 32-35.
4.4.7 To change the head harness
• Remove the head harness from the welding shield by
releasing the two fixing points. Fig 36.
• Fit a new sweatband, see 4.4.6 To change sweatband.
• Secure the two fixing points of the head harness. Fig. 37.
• Check that the head harness is locked in the fixing points
of the welding shield.
• Adjust the head harness accoring to the instructions in
section 3.2 Putting the welding shield on and adjustments.
4.4.8
To change the face seal
• Release the air channel from the head harness. Fig. 38.
• Remove the face seal.
• Fit the new face seal. Mount the face seal on the air channel.

• Press the face seal all around the welding shield. Fig. 41-42.
• Attach the joint clamp over the joint of the face seal. Fig 43.
• Attach the air channel to the head harness. Fig. 44.
