• Using only premium clumping litter refill Litter Tray to just below the "full line".
• Plug in the AC power Adapter and replace batteries.
• Turn the On/Off Switch to "on" to reactivate automatic operation.
Paw-Cleaning Ramp: (Optional item)
• Remove mat by gently pulling on the fabric strip provided (Fig. 9).
• The mat is held in place by 5 tabs and will remove easily.
• Just remove and clean carpet by using a vacuum cleaner.
• To return it to its original position, reinsert carpet under the tabs. It is not necessary to
remove the plastic ramp to clean the mat.
Note: Should small stains occur, moisten a sponge with a mild detergent and cold water;
wipe to clean. Do not use soaps or chemical cleaners as they may be harmful to your cat.
Caution: Do not place carpet in washer or dryer. Do not vacuum carpet when it is wet.

Removing Disposable Waste Receptacle
We recommend avoiding contact with waste material. Wear rubber or latex gloves when
handling used Disposable Waste Receptacle.
• Depress the two pushtabs in the Waste Receptacle Compartment Cover (Fig. 10).
(Detach the Disposable Waste Receptacle Lid from the Waste Receptacle
Compartment Cover.)
• Lift the Compartment Cover, exposing the closed Disposable Waste Receptacle
assembly.
• Press in on four corners of lid to secure lid to the Waste Receptacle, pull the
Disposable Waste Receptacle edge free from the tabs holding it in place, lift out and
dispose (Fig. 11).

Rake Removal, Cleaning & Reinstallation
Removing the Rake:
The Rake can be removed for easy cleaning.
We recommend wearing rubber or latex gloves when handling the soiled Rake.
• Flip open the Disposable Waste Receptacle Compartment Cover.
• Turn On/Off Switch to "off ", then back to "on".
• Rake will automatically begin a cleaning cycle.
• As Rake climbs up incline near the Disposable Waste Receptacle Compartment Cover,
Turn the On/Off switch to "off". Unplug the AC Adapter, and if batteries are installed,
remove batteries.
• Place fingers on underside of the Rake and gently pull the Rake up and out toward
Disposable Waste Receptacle Compartment Cover. Notches on Rake bar detach from
screws on the rake assembly housing (Fig. 12).
• If Rake does not come free, use a Phillips-head screwdriver to loosen screws on
underside of the Rake assembly. Loosen no more than 1/8 of a turn.
• Gently pull Rake up and out (Fig.12).
• Clean Rake with a soft cloth using warm water and a mild detergent. Do not use
scouring pads or harsh or abrasive chemicals. Spray Rake lightly with nonstick
cooking spray or a silicone spray before reinstalling.

Note: Use the LitterMaid™ Triple-Action Tool to clean the Rake quickly and easily.
Reinstalling the Rake:
• Align the 4 slots on the Rake with the screws on the Rake assembly housing and push
to snap into place.
• Rake needs to be snapped in completely. There should be no space between the edge
of the Rake and the Rake assembly housing. If necessary retighten screws no more
than 1/8 of a turn.
• Plug unit in. Reinstall batteries as back up.
• Turn the On/Off switch to "on"; Rake will return to home position.
Unit is now operational.
