Intended use

2.1 Use in hazardous areas

2.1.1 Application
Two types of ATEX-licensed machine safety sensors are availa-
ble:
 Resin-encapsulated:

II 2G Ex mb IIC T5/T6 Gb

II 2D Ex mb IIIC IP68 T105°C Db
 Intrinsically safe:

II 2G Ex ia IIC T5/T6 Gb

II 1/2G Ex ia IIC T5/T6 Ga/Gb

II 1G Ex ia IIC T5/T6 Ga

II 1D Ex ia IIIC IP68 T105°C Da
The ATEX-licensed machine safety sensors have been manufac-
tured in compliance with the requirements of category 2 G/D.
They are used in the following zones:
 2G in zone 1
 3G in zone 2
 2D in zone 21
 3D in zone 22
Intrinsically safe variants (
category 1G / 1/2G / 2G / 1D / 2D. With an approved safety bar-
rier installed, the intrinsically safe models may be used in the fol-
lowing zones:
 1G
in zone 0 or zone 1 or zone 2
 1/2G in the separating wall between zone 1 and zone 0 and
installation in zone 1 or zone 2
 1D
in zone 20 or zone 21 or zone 22
Note The direct use of sensors of the EX i model in conjunction
with elobau evaluation units and a safety barrier is to be
checked.
