Calibration of Type 2239 A Sound Level Meter
Calibration of Type 2239 A requires the sound level meter to be connected to Type 3638 A/B
controller unit. In this way, calibration results, which are necessary for reporting and calibration
history, can be acquired.
Calibration is initialised from Type 3638 A/B's main operation menu:
1) Press
2) From the menu, select New calibration and press OK.
The calibration procedure continues following steps 1 through 8 above (skip step 7). Upon
completion of the procedure, press OK on Type 3638 A/B's controller. Do not switch off the
calibrator. Calibration results will be recorded and saved for immediate and/or future display
and printing. It takes approximately 5 seconds to measure and save data to the memory.
Press C to leave the menu without printing calibration results.
Basic Use
Checking Battery Status
To check the battery status of Type 3638 A/B, press OK until the battery symbol appears on the
display. The number inside the symbol represents remaining battery capacity in percentage.
When the battery is full, the number is 100%. As the battery is used, the percentage drops down
accordingly. It is necessary to recharge the battery when the number is below 30%.
There is about 8 – 12 hours of battery life in a fully charged battery.
LED Display
In the middle of the controller's front panel are three LEDs that are used as RPM indicators.
During a measurement the left red LED lights up while the engine RPM is under the RPM
trigger value. The right red LED lights up when the engine RPM is too high. When the RPM
trigger value is reached, the middle green LED lights up. Both red LEDs light up when the
measurement phase is complete, the engine is returning to idle and the system is ready for the
next measurement.
