System Design

1. Filtration of fluid upstream of the intensifier is required to a minimum of 10 micron
2. Make sure that there are no restrictions downstream of the Return port (R) which
3. Inlet pressure should be maintained to the intensifier at all times when high pressure
System Preparation
1. Prior to installation of the intensifier, the system should be flushed to remove any de-
2. Bleed all air from the system prior to use.
3. The intensifier should be securely mounted using Enerpac mounting bracket
OPERATION
PIN Models
When oil is let into port IN, it flows freely over the valves (3 and 4) to the cylinder (5).
The cylinder then moves forward. As the pressure in the cylinder increases, the
oscillating function automatically starts and begins increasing the pressure by the
designated intensifying factor. Once the desired pressure has been reached, the
frequency drops to a level giving only enough flow to maintain maximum pressure. High
pressure adjustment is achieved by varying the inlet pressure, as the high pressure is
directly proportional to the inlet pressure. The PIN series requires an external pilot
operated check valve (6) to release high pressure oil from the system. Shifting the
directional control valve (1) supplies pilot pressure to the check valve (6), allowing the
cylinder (5) to retract.

would cause back pressure on the unit; since the Outlet (H) pressure of the intensi-
fier is based on the differential between Inlet (IN) and Return port(R), any back pres-
sure on R will proportionately reduce outlet pressure.
is required at the outlet. The intensifier is designed to automatically compensate for
downstream losses, but sufficient inlet pressure and flow is required to maintain this
capability.
