1.
DESCRIPTION: Electronic control device designed to control the temperature from 2 to 16 independent zones in centralised duct type air
conditioning installations. The room wireless thermostats are connected by radio, with a central control panel which manages the motorised dampers
installed in each zone and the ON/OFF of the ducted Air Handling Unit (AHU).
2.
SYSTEM WIRING: All of the system components are wired to the control centre. It is
recommended that you locate it close to the inner unit of the air conditioning equipment,
placed in an elevated position and far from metallic parts. Place that control panel not
accessible to the general public. Fix it into the wall using screws or use the rear DIN rail
fixation.
2.1. Power: Supply the centre with 230 VAC on the Power Supply terminals, wires Smin=1
2
2
mm
, Smax=1.5 mm
.
2.2. Antenna: Locate and aim the antenna in the false ceiling in a place where radio signal reception is favourable.
2.3. Motorised dampers: Connect the motors for each regulation to terminal blocks 1 to 8 on the board. Use a wire (red (+) / black (-)) Smin=0.75
2
2
mm
, Smax=1.0 mm
. In the event of two regulations per zone (maximum recommended), connect the parallel as indicated in Zone 5 of the figure. The
MASTER zone should be connected to output 1.
For more than 8 zones, an expansion module should be used for up to 16 zones, which must be connected using the connection cable supplied with
the module to the Input/Output Expansion Modules on the control board.
2.4. Air Conditioning equipment: The connection between the AHU equipment and the control centre depends on the brand and model of the
equipment used and involves relays G, W, V and Y on the board. MADEL has wiring diagrams for the most common AHU in the market. There are
basically 2 different types of machine:
-
Electronic machines: The zoning system can only act as remote ON/OFF for the air handling unit and, therefore, cannot replace the machine
thermostat. To prevent said equipment from stopping, the machine thermostat must always be connected, with the zone thermostats taking over
temperature control. Cold-heat changeover must be made on the machine thermostat and on the master thermostat.
-
Mechanical machines: The AHU thermostat is replaced and the zoning system takes over complete control of the installation. The machine
allows for the different components (4-way valve, compressor, inner fan, etc.) to be enabled through the relay contacts.
See Sections 2.2.1.1 and 2.2.1.2 for further information on the different configurations in electronic and mechanical machines.
2.5. Safety sensors: These are installed to over-protect the production equipment against abnormal variations in the return temperature (in air
conditioning) and in the water drive temperature in the case of boilers..
-
Air return sensor (S1): This should be installed on all machines, although the return on electronic machines is also protected by the machine
itself. The sensor will stop the zoning system when the return temp. is below 6ºC in summer and above 40ºC in winter..
-
Water drive sensor (S3): This must be installed whenever a boiler is controlled for heating. It protects the equipment against the formation of ice
in the installation (boiler enabled below 5ºC) and avoids water over 40ºC from being driven around heated floor installations.
2.6. Power-free inlets (remote ON/OFF): These work as a normally-open voltage-free contact. They provide remote access to the centre from
domotics equipment, fire or smoke detection centres, etc. On closing the contact, the centre will carry out a switching off cycle and will automatically
reset if the contact re-opens.
3. CONFIGURATION: The number of zones controlled by the board and the type(s) of machine controlled using the system must be configured through
the control panel menus..
3.1. Selecting No. of zones: This must be configured in all cases where the number of zones if different to 4 (default). From 2 to 16 zones can be
selected, of which 2 to 16 are connected to the central unit and the remainder to an expansion module.
1. Press SET for 5 s
The equipment is restarted and will begin to work with the new no. of zones selected.
3.2.
Selecting machine type: Only configure for machines other than the basic electronic machine (default).
3.2.1.
Air Conditioning only installations: The KRC + centre is only connected to air conditioning equipment. Select the type of machine following the
attached diagram.
3.2.1.1. Electronic Machines: The machine thermostat must be maintained. In this case, the zoning system can only act as remote start/stoppage for
the air conditioning equipment. A Controlled Mechanical Ventilation (CMV) system can be enabled from the MASTER thermostat.
2. Select the number of zones
3. Confirm with the central button
