3. Switch On
Iolite's flameless catalytic heater is activated by a piezo-electric system. Firstly
switch on by moving the 0-1 switch to "1". Then activate the catalytic heater by slowly
pushing the piezo button forward. The sound of the gas flow changes to a mild 'roar'
confirming your iolite is heating up. This usually happens on the first try, if by chance
the piezo fails the first time, depress the switch again within 5 seconds.
As illustrated, an orange glow will also become visible after a few moments to
confirm your iolite is heating up. The glow will disappear once the optimum controlled
temperature is reached. Note that during its normal working cycle, the sound made by
the iolite when "On" is cut in and out by the thermostat.
Allow at least 45 seconds for your iolite to reach its controlled operational temperature
of 190 °C before inhaling. This doesn't necessarily mean pipe tobacco/plant material
will be ready after 45 seconds. You may have to wait a little longer. 190°C is the
maximum temperature reached, thus avoiding any combustion or burning. When
finished turn the unit off by switching to 0.
Caution:
If the 0-1 switch is at 0 the unit is off. It may take up to 3 minutes to dispel all residual
gas after switching off. Always allow your iolite to cool before placing in its carrying
pouch.

4. Inhale
Place your lips around the mouthpiece and inhale slowly. Hold the vapour in and then
exhale. Once filled and in use it should last up to 15 minutes or use until no more
vapour is emitted. Used pipe tobacco/plant material is easily removed from the filling
chamber. Load the filling chamber again if desired. Otherwise switch off the unit and
clean.
Caution:
If the pipe tobacco/plant material has a high moisture content, the moisture condenser
must be used, if not used steam may be produced and cause irritation. However,
for dried pipe tobacco/plant material a fuller flavour is achieved without the moisture
condenser. Included is a small hand tool to remove the moisture condenser.
