Report Format
The following sections demonstrate examples
of various reports which can be printed out
over the serial interface.
We make no claim as to the completeness
of these examples.
The reports have been developed to output directly
to printers having a serial interface.
Output is in the form of an extended ASCII
character set.
With the exception of the CR (carriage return) and
LF (line feed) control characters the reports contain no additional special characters for controlling the format.
By using a terminal program, e.g. HyperTerminal,
the reports on the metal detectors can be read
and stored by a conventional computer
over the serial interface.
Further editing can then take place using conventional text editors.
We will also be pleased to supply you with tools such
as SPCfWIN or Sartorius Com2TCP/IP which allow you
to evaluate the data further.
With the aid of an interface converter such as COM-Server, the data can also be transferred between
the metal detector and a server
over a TCP/IP connection.
The task of such interface converters is to tunnel
the serial data stream for a different transmission medium, e.g. networks based on TCP/IP.
By contrast, data is received over virtual COM ports, Telnet sessions or TCP/UDP sockets.
Received data is in the format shown here
for all solutions.
