NOTE: The term "residual current device (RCD)" may be replaced by
the term "ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI)" or "earth leakage
circuit breaker (ELCB)".
WARNING: When used in Australia or New Zealand, it is recommended
that this tool is ALWAYS supplied via Residual Current Device (RCD)
with a rated residual current of 30mA or less.
WARNING: Before connecting a tool to a power source (mains switch
power point receptacle, outlet, etc.) be sure that the voltage supply
is the same as that specified on the nameplate of the tool. A power
source with a voltage greater than that specified for the tool can result
in serious injury to the user, and damage to the tool. If in doubt, do
not plug in the tool. Using a power source with a voltage less than the
nameplate rating is harmful to the motor.
UNPACKING
• Carefully unpack and inspect your tool. Familiarise
yourself with all its features and functions.
• Ensure that all parts of the tool are present and in
good condition. If any parts are missing or damaged,
have such parts replaced before attempting to use this
tool.
ASSEMBLY
FIT THE GRINDSTONE AND WATER TROUGH
1. Place a Metal Washer (7) onto the spindle, profile
facing away from the body of the machine
2. Place the Grindstone (6) loosely onto the spindle, with
the depressed centre of the grindstone facing away
from the body of the machine (as shown in image)
3. Clip the Water Trough (5) into position. Use the
appropriate fixing position to suit the size of grindstone
to ensure stone is free to rotate yet reaches below the
max water level (as marked on trough)
4. Place the other Metal Washer (7) onto the spindle,
profile facing the grindstone
5. Fasten with the Locking Nut (8). Use spanner supplied
to secure tightly.
PREPARATION
SITING THE UNIT
• Position the unit on a solid work surface, with all four
feet securely planted on the surface
• Ensure there is adequate light to see the work clearly
and sufficient space around the unit so that there are
no obstructions
FILLING THE WATER TROUGH
1. Fill the Water Trough (5) with cold water up to the MAX
WATER LEVEL mark on the side of the water trough
Polarized Plugs (for North America only) To reduce the risk of electric
shock, this equipment has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than
the other). This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the
plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not
fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not
change the plug in any way.
IMPORTANT: Remove protective packing around the
motor before assembly
1. Ensure the unit is not connected to power
2. Carefully lay the machine on its side to gain access to
the motor cavity
3. Remove protective packing in and around the motor
4. Carefully return unit to the upright position
NOTE: This spindle has a reverse thread, turn nut anti-
clockwise to fasten
6. Rotate the grindstone by hand a few turns to ensure
that it moves freely and accurately
LEATHER HONING WHEEL
1. The unit is supplied with the Leather Honing Wheel (1)
fitted
2. Before use, check that the honing wheel is securely
fastened in place
3. Turn the Locking Knob (3) clockwise to tighten.
NOTE: Tighten by hand only.
2. When in use, ensure the water level is always
sufficient to keep the grinding surface of the
Grindstone (6) wet
ENGAGING THE DRIVE SYSTEM
1. Tighten the Torque Adjustment Knob (10) by turning
it clockwise until it is tight up against the body of the
machine. This will engage the drive system
2. After use, always loosen the toque adjustment knob.
This will help to ensure the drive wheel retains its
correct shape
