INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Ensure that the folding mechanism and handle bar are secure and locked in place before using the Orbi-Turn.
A full risk and environmental assessment must be carried out by an appropriately qualified person prior to using this piece
of equipment.
1. Ensure that the patient is positioned ready for transferring. Manoeuvre the Orbi-Turn in front of the seated patient.
Place the patient's feet on the textured turn plate (see figure 2).
2. Adjust the knee-pad just below the tibial tuberosity to facilitate normal biomechanical hip and knee movement.
3. Ask the patient to grip the lower handle bar while you place your foot on the brake for security and to counter balance the force
(see figure 3).
4. Place your hands on the top handle and ask the patient to stand up. When standing, the patient can safely lean against the
thigh pad for increased comfort and security during the transfer (see figure 4).
5. Once the patient is standing safely, remove your foot from the brake and gently rotate the patient on the Orbi-Turn
(see figure 5). Ensure that you step round with the Orbi-Turn to avoid spinal rotation.
6. Once in the desired position, operate the foot brake and ask the patient to slowly sit down while counter balancing their weight
(see figure 6).
7. With the transfer complete remove the Orbi-Turn. Tilting back onto the rear castors will enable the Orbi-Turn to be easily
transported away and stored (see figure 7). When the handle bar has been raised to the maximum height, a bullet catch will
prevent further extension. The handle bar should only be pulled out further for cleaning or transportation.
