First Aid:
• Rinse acid splashes in the eyes immediately with clean water
for several minutes! Then consult a doctor immediately.
• Neutralise acid splashes on the skin or clothing immediately
with soda or soap and rinse with a large quantity of water.
• Consult a doctor immediately if battery acid has been ingest-
ed.
Tip!
If safety instructions are not followed while using the inverter
then all terms of the manufacture/supplier guarantee and liability
become void.
3.2

Application

The inverter is intended exclusively to provide those electrical
and electronic appliances that can be connected directly to the
230 Volt on shore network with energy. The power consumed
continuously by these appliances must not be greater than the
nominal power of the inverter. See the technical data for the
nominal power.
Note that the power supplied is given for some appli-
ances. The power consumed can be considerably more!
For instance, the power consumed by a microwave oven is
about 1.5 times the power supplied.
The inverter may only be used when it is in perfect condition. If
faults develop that are relevant to the safety of the user and the
ship the inverter must be taken out of service immediately.
Changes may not be made to the appliance for safety reasons.
Repairs may only be carried out by sufficiently expert persons.
Safety earthing must be adhered to!

Installing

4.1

Positioning

Select a dry place which is well away from any source of heat.
High temperatures can negatively affect the power of the appli-
ance, and low temperatures can cause condensation. The ambi-
ent temperature must lie between
0 °C and 40 °C.
Never cover the ventilation openings and maintain a free space
of at least 10 cm all round the inverter.
Do not position the inverter too far from the battery in order
to restrict voltage losses in the connecting wires (12 v or 24 V
respectively) as far as possible. It is therefore better to make the
output 230 V line longer if this is necessary. Also do not position
the inverter directly above the battery; sulphurous battery fumes
can cause damage to the electronic parts. The appliance com-
plies with protection class IP 20.
Never use the inverter in spaces where gas can collect or where
there is a danger of explosion.
Do not position the inverter in a space containing dust or saw-
dust. These substances can be sucked into the inverter by the
fan.
Position the inverter vertically against a wall with the battery con-
nections downwards; see also '9 Main dimensions'.
Do not drill any extra fixing holes in the metal casing!
The presence of small metal particles in the inverter can
cause irreparable damage.
4.2

Battery connections

Care!
The battery voltage must be the same as that given on the
inverter!
See '11 Wiring diagrams' for how to connect the inverter to the
batteries.
Care!
Both type IV200012 and type IV300012 require that both
battery connection points be connected to the battery!
Use wires of sufficient thickness and suitable wire terminals, see
'8 Wire choice table' for the correct wire cross-section.
Check that the on/off switch is set to 'OFF'. See '10 Connection
diagram' no. 5.
Warning!
Large currents through too thin wires or contact resistances
caused by poor connections can lead to wires or plug connec-
tions becoming very hot and could cause a fire.
Keep the connecting wires between the batteries and the invert-
er as short as possible.
