Controller operation

Sanitary hot water functions

The Comfort Module determines if the sanitary water valve
has to be activated or not following a Priority Logic.
It's possible to select the sanitary configuration using Par. 71
of variable table,
If Par. 71 is set to:
1. It works using the sanitary water temperature (sanitary
water sensor must be configured at Par. 112 and must
be connected). If the sanitary water switch is mapped
as 1, it stops the production of sanitary water if the
contact is open (close, if it's mapped as -1).
2. It works as per option 1, but it shows the solar icon on
user interface if sanitary water production is stopped
by the sanitary contact (which should be connected to
a solar controller).
3. Based on Sanitary Switch only. When it is closed (if
mapped as 1), sanitary water is produced. Use this option
if the tank does not have a temperature sensors and
domestic hot water request is based on a thermal switch.
The control always calculates the priority for sanitary water
and for room comfort (in case of more zones, it considers all
the priorities).
Pic. 7 shows the curves used to calculate the priority:

P. Priority

heater backup
b. Sanitary water priority curve in case of gas boiler backup
c. Sanitary water priority in case of Anti-Legionella
routine active
C. Sanitary water or room setpoint temperature (°C)
D. Temperature for priority zero (Par. 72)
E. Delta temperature from point C or D for priority 0.5
(Par. 73 and 75)
F. Delta temperature from point E for priority 1 (par. 74
and 76)
The rules to switch between sanitary production and room
comfort are:
- Move to Sanitary water Production if:
Sanitary Priority is higher than Room Priority for more
than 15 minutes
Room Priority is 0 and Sanitary Priority is more than 0

Antifrost protection

This function prevents the icing of the water in hydronic
circuit. It works in all mode except Cooling mode and drives

Sanitary frost protection

This function is active in all operative modes except Cooling.
It prevents water freezing in the circuit and in the domestic
- Move to room comfort if:
Room Priority is higher than Sanitary Priority for more
than 15 minutes
Sanitary Priority is 0 and Room Priority is more than 0
Room Priority is 1 for more than 2 minutes
NOTE:
If no room temperature sensors is available, Room
Priority is always 0.5
If Par. 71 is set to 3, Sanitary Priority is 1 when the
Sanitary Input is closed and 0 when it's open (if it
mapped as 1)
If Sanitary Input is mapped as 1, the Sanitary Priority is
calculated only when contact is closed, otherwise the
Sanitary priority is 0
Additional features for the sanitary hot water production are
listed below.
Booster heater
Booster heater (electric heater inside domestic hot water tank)
is activated if domestic hot water temperature is below the
setpoint and the schedule allows electric heater activation.
This function is only available if domestic hot water is
managed by system control (Par. 71 set as 1 or 2).
It is possible to force the activation of booster heater by
setting Par. 78.
The code is self reset when the desired setpoint is reached.
If domestic hot water temperature sensor is in diagnostics,
booster heater is never activated.
Disinfection (AntiLegionella)
This function is only available if domestic hot water is
managed by system control (Par. 71 set as 1 or 2).
The disinfection function disinfects the domestic hot water
tank by periodically heating water to a specific temperature
for a defined time period.
The disinfection function settings must be configured
according to national and local regulations.
During disinfection function, booster heater is activated, if
needed, regardless the schedule.
In case of boiler backup, priority lines are adjusted to
optimize energy efficiency.
NOTE:
If domestic water sensor is in diagnostics or disinfection
function has not been completed within the defined
timeframe, domestic hot water production is stopped,
unless Par. 109.2 is set to 1.
The system will try to perform the disinfection cycle on
the next scheduled day.
the system to heat the water inside the pipes. The threshold
is selectable on Par. 102 of the Variable Table.
water tank.
The activation water temperature is determined by Par. 102.
