CONTROLLING ThE CATCh RESULTS
Check the trap by looking through the window on the side of the trap and observe the catch results after three days
of running the trap. If it has frequently rained or stormed during this time, the mosquitoes are not likely to have been
flying. In this case, you need to extend the period between controls. Likewise, in spring or fall when the average
temperature is below 20 °C you should extend the period between controls from three to five days.
It is recommended to frequently check the catch success of the trap to make additional provisions or necessary
changes of the position. Please note that if you experience a decrease in the amount of mosquitoes being caught
over time it does not mean the trap is becoming less effective or not working properly. In fact, it means that you are
actively decreasing the mosquito population in your area and there are fewer mosquitoes to be caught.

MAINTENANCE AND CARE

The Biogents
®
dispenser can be used for roughly eight weeks (two months). Afterwards, the dispenser must be
replaced to ensure the effectiveness of the Biogents
Therefore the trap must be maintenanced at least every two months!
In order to remove the intake funnel and exchange the dispenser there should be
no live mosquitoes in the trap; therefore, the black intake funnel needs to be co-
vered so that no more mosquitoes can be caught in the trap. The intake funnel can
be covered by either stuffing it with paper or a towel [F10] or placing a plastic bag,
net, plastic wrap, or aluminum foil over the top. Let the trap continue to run so that
the live mosquitoes in the trap can dehydrate and die. This usually takes 48 hours.
Once there are no more live mosquitoes in the trap follow the steps for the maintenance of the Mosquitito™ trap:
1.
Turn off the power to the trap by either disconnecting the power cable from the
ventilator cable or unplugging the power supply unit.
2.
Remove the trap body from the intake funnel. [F11]
3.
The mosquitoes are sometimes blown up into the top edge of the trap by the
fan. Shake the trap slightly to shake the mosquitoes down toward the center. If
this does not work you can blow through the top of the white gauze to blow the
mosquitoes down towards the middle.
4.
Once the majority of the caught mosquitoes are down in the middle point of the
trap, they can be pushed out through the middle opening. Grab the bottom of
the trap [F12] and push it through the middle opening. [F13]
5.
Dispose of the mosquitoes properly, either in the household trash or bio-waste.
Remove the old dispenser from the black pouch.
6.
You can then clean the trap properly. Please see instructions below. It is impor-
tant that the trap, especially the top white gauze, remains clean.
7.
Once you have cleaned the trap you can place the new dispenser into the black
pouch located in the body of the Mosquitito™ trap. [F1]
8.
Reattach the trap body to the intake funnel [F4-6], remove the top covering
from the intake funnel and reconnect the power cables.
Cleaning Instructions:
Hand wash the Mosquitito™ body if it becomes dirty. Do not use any insecticides
near the trap because the residues from these products can have a repelling effect
for the mosquitoes and consequently reduce the catch rate of the trap. Do not use
any pointy or rough objects to clean the trap.
Only use recommended accessories and parts from the manufacturer. The use of foreign parts can significantly
reduce the catch rate of the Mosquitito™ trap or even render it ineffective.
Use a damp cloth to clean the plastic part of the trap.
