6th Step –Perform the Electric Connections
The unit cabinet must have an uninterrupted
and continuous electric earth connection, in
order to minimize the possibility of personal
injuries in case of power failures. This can be
a cable connected to the unit earth terminal
in the control box, or a conduit approved for
the electric connections to earth conforming
to NEC. National Electrical Code, ANSI/
NFPA, American National Standard Institute/
National Fire Protection Association, last
review) In Canada, Canadian Electrical
code CSA [Canadian Standard Association]
c22.1, or local electric codes. Do not use
the gas piping as an earth conduit. The non-
compliance with these warnings can result
in personal injuries or death.
FIELD SUPPLIED POWER – All the units have a
factory-installed wiring for the voltage showed in
the unit nameplate.
Refer to the unit nameplate in order to get
additional information. Use the factory-installed
joints or a proper copper connector.
When installing the units, provide a switch.
NOTE: The accessory connections are used
through the rear portion. Refer to the installation
instructions of the accessory for the power wiring.
Refer to Picture

to drill the holes in the panel.
All the fi eld wiring must comply with the local
requirements.
Install the fi eld wiring as follows:
1. Install the conduit through the openings of the
side panel. Install the conduit of the switch (not
supplied) and the control box.
2. Install the power lines to the connection
terminals.
The operating voltage for the compressor must be
within the range indicated on the unit nameplate.
The phase voltage must be balanced within 2% and
the current must be within 10%. Consult you local
electricity service to correct the improper voltage
and/or the phase imbalance.
The failure of the unit due to its operation in an
improper line voltage or with an excessive phase
imbalance is an abuse and can damage the electric
components of the unit. Such operation can make
any applicable Carrier warranty void.

The non-compliance with these warnings can
result in damages to the unit that is being
installed.

POWER SUPPLY CONNECTIONS – The unit must
have an independent electric supply, with a
disconnect switch, resistant to water, assembled
on or near the unit. Refer to the nameplate of the
unit concerning the maximum size of the fuse/
cutting circuit and the minimum amps of the
circuit for the cabling size. See the table for the
Electric Data.
CONTROL WIRING ON-SITE – Install a thermostat
assembled according to the installation instructions
included with the accessory. Place the thermostat
on a hard wall of the conditioned space in order
to measure the average temperature, according
to the installation instructions of the thermostat.
Direct the thermostat cable or the equivalent color
cables from the sub-base terminals up to the
low-tension connections (shown on Picture 9) as
described below.
