3.1 Application

The 759H4 Ottobock Heating Plate uniformly heats thermoplastic sheet materials commonly used to
form prosthetic and orthotic devices.

4 Construction

The 759H4 Heating Plate is designed with a stand, a hinged cover and a base which can be heated.
As a unique technical feature this unit, the cover and the heating element are coated with breathable 759Y22 Teflon
sheeting. The Teflon sheeting prevents air from entering the space between the thermoplastic pane material and the
Teflon sheeting.
A counter-pressure plate is integrated in the cover. This plate has a hold-down clamp that allows manual height
adjustment to accommodate materials of varying thicknesses. The four star knobs on the counter-pressure plate
should be adjusted to similar positions on the plate, creating an even plane when the cover is closed. This ensures
optimal contact with the heating surface and uniform heating of the sheet material.
The cover is opened manually, but there are also two pneumatic cylinders to facilitate the opening and closing of the
cover. The maximum aperture angle is 45°.
The temperature is infinitely adjustable with a dial thermostat.
The closed circuit is protected by a fuse (4 amps) which is installed inside the switch housing.
To protect the heating elements from overheating, a safety switch has been installed. In case of any malfunction, this
switch turns off all functions.

5 Assembly and Installation

After assembling the base frame, the Heating Plate (with lid closed) can be inserted symmetrically
into the square tubes of the base frame. Be careful not to pinch your fingers!

6 Operating Instructions

Check to make sure the outlet and heating plate voltages are identical. If they are, plug the cord into
the outlet.
Operating instructions:
· Turn on the main switch
· Set the temperature control dial to the desired temperature
Two control lamps indicate whether the heating plate is on stand-by or in operation. The green
indicator lamp lights up when the main switch is turned on. The red lamp indicates that the plate is
heating then goes out once set temperature is reached.
Switching off the device: Turn off the main switch
Safety Limiter
The safety limiter is installed in the switch box underneath the heating plate. If the safety limiter
is activated, the heating plate must be inspected by a specialist. The safety limiter is reset by
pressing the red reset button.
Please note:
When heating the sheet material, follow the manufacturer's temperature specifications exactly.
Higher temperatures do not reduce the heating time but burn the sheet material, thereby dis-
coloring the Teflon Sheeting and heating element.
