Sound-Active Mode
The VDPLMS1 pinspot also features preset sound-triggered programmes which, along with the pan
movement, can be selected via the DIP switches [4]. Set the sound sensitivity level of the
microphone [3] with the sensitivity adjustment knob [2].

Speed Adjustment
Set the speed of the automatic or sound-active mode via DIP switches 6 through 8 [4].

Master/Slave Operation
This operation mode allows a series of pinspots to act synchronously to the master pinspot. To do so,
connect the DMX output of each fixture to the DMX input of the next fixture. The linking cable should
be a two-core screened cable with XLR input and output connectors.
Next, set master and slave fixtures as follows:
Master fixture: Set the DIP switches [4] according to the automatic or sound-active mode
(see 6. Stand-Alone Operation above). This automatically sets the fixture as master.
Slave fixtures: Set DIP switch no 1 [4] to the ON position.
Remarks:
DMX Operation
The DMX operation mode allows you to control your pinspot through an external DMX controller (not
included). Set DIP switch no 10 [4] to the ON position and DIP switches 1 through 9 [4] to set the
DMX start address.
DMX512 Connection
Connect an XLR cable to the female 3-pin XLR output of your controller and the other side to the
male 3-pin XLR input of the VDPLMS1. Multiple VDPLMS1s can be linked through serial linking. The
linking cable should be a two-core screened cable with XLR input and output connectors.
DMX Terminator
A DMX terminator is recommended for installations where the DMX cable has to run a long distance
or is in an electrically noisy environment (e.g. discos). The terminator prevents corruption of the
digital control signal by electrical noise. The DMX terminator is simply an XLR plug with a 120 Ω
resistor between pins 2 and 3, which is then plugged into the XLR output socket of the last device in
the chain. Please see illustration.
