MAINTENANcE
WARNING:
When servicing, use only identical RIDGID replace-
ment parts. Use of any other parts may create a
hazard or cause product damage.

GENERAL MAINTENANcE

Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most
plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of
commercial solvents and may be damaged by their use. Use
clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc.
WARNING:
Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline,
petroleum-based products, penetrating oils, etc.,
come in contact with plastic parts. Chemicals can
damage, weaken or destroy plastic which may
result in serious personal injury.
REPLAcING THE cLAMP PADS
See Figure 15.
To replace clamp pads or to remove them for greater clamp-
ing range:
To replace the clamp pad on the fixed clamp:
 Pry off the fixed clamp pad using a flathead screw-
driver.
 Place a new clamp pad over the holes in the fixed clamp
and press the pad into place.
To replace the clamp pads on the sliding clamp:
 Hold the front clamp pad and slide the back clamp pad
to the right freeing the pads from one another.
 Pull the clamp pads apart.
 Place a new front clamp pad into the holes on the sliding
clamp.
 Align the new back clamp pad holes over the tabs from
the front clamp pad and press the pads together.
 Slide the back clamp pad to the left while hold the front
clamp pad in place.
LUBRIcATING THE cLAMP MEcHANISM
See Figure 16.
If the sliding clamp doesn't move smoothly, remove the
sliding clamp and spray the clamp mechanism with a small
amount of spray lubricant.
