SAMBA – Body analysis scale
Thank you for choosing this instrument from TFA.
This body analysis scale is intended for weighing and calculating body fat, body water, bone mass and muscle mass using bioelectrical impedance analysis.
A weak alternating current which is harmless to humans is sent through the body by way of the electrodes placed on the feet and the resistance is then measured.
Based on the difference between the body components and the various levels of conductivity, the body composition is calculated with the help of the data entered pre-
viously for example, height, sex and age.
A healthy body weight not only depends on the number of kilograms but also on the muscle mass to fat mass ratio. Having too high a body fat content can increase the
risk of cardiovascular diseases. The body analysis scale allows you to regularly check your personal values and promote your health and fitness.

6.5 Using the scale with the analysis function
6.5.1 To ensure reliable measurements:
• Always stand on the scale barefoot. Feet must be firmly positioned on the electrodes.
• If possible, always weigh yourself at the same time of day, after going to the toilet and when not wearing any clothes. Do not, however, weigh yourself immediately
after getting up or taking a shower / bath. Wait at least 15 minutes.
• The measurement very much depends on the user's water balance. Saunas, physical activity, drinking, eating, illnesses and the female menstrual cycle can all
impact on the results. Wait a few hours after strenuous exercise.
To achieve comparable results, you should always weigh yourself when you are at the same level of hydration, if possible.
6.5.2 Setting of person, sex, height and age
• Press the SET button. The backlight turns on automatically.
• 160 cm and a symbol figure appear on the display and P1 (default) starts flashing.
• With the
or

• The balance stores the information from eight users.
• Confirm the setting with the SET button.
• On the display appears the symbol for a man (default).
• Choose with the

6.5.3 Performing the body analysis (first measurement)
• Place the scale on a solid flat surface.
• Stand barefoot on the scale.
• After a few seconds your weight will appear. Stand still until the analysis is complete. The analysis bar fills up from left to right and appears after a few seconds:

• The body analysis is shown three times.
• If no body analysis was possible, only the weight will be displayed.
6.5.4 Performing the body analysis (additional measurements)
• To switch on the scale, simply stand on it barefoot.
• The backlight will turn on automatically.

• The body analysis is shown three times.
• If no body analysis was possible, only the weight will be displayed.
6.6 Interpreting the measured values
• Please note:
The measured values calculated by the body analysis scale are not precise medical values. Contact a specialist for an exact calculation.
• The data in the tables below are benchmarks. Discuss any treatments, diets and measures based on the calculated values with a doctor before taking action.
• Please note that the fat, muscle and bone mass also consist in part of water and therefore, added together, the percentage values can reach more than 100%.
6.7 Body fat indicator
• Once the analysis is complete, the analysis bar acts as a body fat indicator. The length of the bar indicates whether the measured body fat content is low, normal,
high or very high. (Please refer to the table for an exact classification).
