3.1 Assembly
The illustration in figure 1 shows the general assembly of the kayak. Your kayak comes from the factory pre-assembled. The only
assembly you should need to do is attach the adjustable seat.
TM
Your AdvancedFrame
kayak comes from the factory pre-assembled. However, should you take it apart, you will need to insert the
aluminium Bow rib and the Stern Rib into the webbing slots on the cover of the AdvancedFrame
TM
Place the AdvancedFrame
boat, and lined up with the opening on the outer cover, see figure 1C.
TM
With the AdvancedFrame
tube installed inside the outer skin, place the inflatable floor inside the center of the AdvancedFrameTM with
twist valve up, see figure 1A.
Attach the adjustable backrest to AdvancedFrame
3.2 Understanding Your Valves
TM
The AdvancedFrame
kayak uses two types of valves: Advanced Elements spring valves (see figure 2) and twist valves (see figure 3).
The Advanced Elements spring valve has the function and durability of other military style type valves. The lock nut holds the valve in
place with the cover for easy inflation. To deflate using the spring valve, push-in centre stem and rotate clockwise to the locked position.
Valve stem should be pushed in. To inflate, push-in centre stem and rotate counter-clockwise to the locked position. Valve stem should
be pushed out.
The twist valve shall be rotated clockwise to close and anti-clockwise to open. When the thread is visible, the valve is open.
To begin inflating your kayak, we recommend a foot pump or a double action hand pump. Never use compressors, CO2 or
compressed air as they may damage your kayak. Both types of valves are compatible with most standard pumps.
3.3 Inflating
IMPORTANT: Before inflating, check to be sure that the kayak is completely assembled. Inflate your kayak in the following order.
Failure to follow theses instructions may cause damage to your kayak. Do not over inflate. In the following instruction, please
refer to figure 4:
1.
Partially inflate chamber 1 until the kayak begins to fill out or appears to be half way inflated then close cap. Check to be sure
the valve is in the inflate position
2.
Inflate chamber 2 (inside the kayak, below the outer cover) until the tube is firm to touch
3.
Inflate chamber 3 "floor". Open twist valve open to inflate and twist close when complete. Fill until firm.
4.
Inflate chambers 4 & 5 until firm. Never over-inflate. On the AdvancedFrame2
second seating area.
5.
Inflate chambers 6 & 7 for desired deck lift. Never over-inflate. On the AdvancedFrame2
chambers between the two seating areas. On the AdvancedFrame AdvancedFrame Expedition
chambers behind the seat.
6.

7.
Make sure all valves are closed tightly and properly.
8.
Finally, insert plastic bow and stern forms into pocket on bow and stern, see figure 7.
Chambers 1 and 2 are separate chambers but equalize in pressure because they are inside a fabric cover. Ideally, you want to put half
of the air in chamber 1 and half in chamber 2. This way if you are suddenly loose pressure in one chamber you should have another
chamber as a safety.
CAUTION: Water temperature and weather will affect the air pressure of the kayak. In cold weather, your boat will loose some pressure
as the air inside contracts. If this occurs, you may want to add a bit more air to improve your kayak's performance. However, in hot
weather, or prolonged direct sunlight, the air inside will expand. In such case, you must let some air out of the appropriate chambers to
prevent the kayak from filing due to overpressure. You should avoid exposing your kayak to extreme temperatures.
3.4 Deflation
1.
Remove the caps from chamber 1 & 2
2.
Push stems inward and rotate to deflate position (see figure 2)
3.
Open all twist valves
4.
Once the chambers are deflated, you can use your pump to vacuum out any additional air for improved folding. This requires
a pump capable of deflating.
3.5 Folding
NOTICE: Reverse your pump to completely deflate all chambers.
Please see figure 5 for folding principle.
1.
Remove the seat
(with Ribs installed) into the Outer Skin, making sure that the air valve is upright and at the back of the
TM
sie tubes by fastening buckles.
and AdvancedFrame Convertible only: Inflate the separate air cushion and place in the centre of the

tube (while deflated). See figure 1B.
