SHIFTING GEARS
This ATV has a 5-speed transmission with a centrifugal
automatic clutch.
To shift the vehicle in neutral while driving, repeatedly depress
the gear shift lever. The green indicator light will illuminate
when in neutral.
To shift the vehicle through gears 1-5:
Release the throttle lever.
Shift into first gear by lifting up once on the gear shift lever
from neutral.
Open throttle gradually. Once vehicle has reached ade-
quate speed, release throttle and shift into second gear.
Open throttle gradually then repeat procedure for the
remaining gears.
When slowing down or stopping, release the throttle and
apply the brakes smoothly. As the ATV slows down, shift
to a lower gear by depressing the gear shift lever.
OPERATION
DRIVE SELECT LEVER
The drive select lever shifts the ATV in either forward or
reverse.
Release the throttle lever.
NOTE: Failure to release the throttle lever before shift-
ing gears could cause damage to the engine and drive
train.
Apply brakes until the ATV comes to a complete stop. Do
not release brake.
Shift transmission into first gear.
Lift up on lock button on drive select lever and pull back
for reverse, making sure lever is locked in place.
NOTE: When in reverse, the reverse indicator light should
illuminate on the console. If light does not come on, check
to see if vehicle is in first gear.
Check for people or obstacles behind you.
Open the throttle gradually, continuing to watch your sur-
roundings while backing.
WARNING:
Always look behind the vehicle for any obstacles or
people both before placing the ATV in reverse and while
reversing. Continuously watch your surroundings. Failure
to do so could cause the ATV to run into an obstacle or
person, which would result in serious personal injury or
property damage.
CAUTION:
Do not coast for long periods of time or tow the ATV a long
distance with the engine not running. When the machine
is in neutral and the engine is off, the gears are not being
properly lubricated and may become damaged.
