5 Measurements

Measurements in circuits carrying more than 42 V must
B
only be made by persons able to recognize a hazard of
contact and to take the required safety precautions. In case
of measurements with a hazard of contact, avoid working
on your own. Ask a second person to assist.
Prior to selecting another measuring function, remove the test
prods from the test object to prevent damage to the multimeter.

5.1 Voltage measurement

Take into account unexpected voltages at test objects. Capa-
citors, for example, may be dangerously charged even if the
voltage source has been switched off.
With this meter, no measurements must be carried out in cir-
cuits with corona discharges (high voltage). Danger to life!
The maximum voltage to be measured must not exceed
600 V /~. Otherwise you may risk your life!
1) Connect the black test lead to the jack COM (5) and the red
test lead to the jack INPUT (11). Do not accidentally use the
jack
10A (4), otherwise the meter and the test object may
be damaged.
2) Set the selector switch (10) to the position "V". After switching
on, the AC voltage measurement is always activated: "AC" is
displayed. When measuring DC voltages, switch to "DC" with
the button FUNC. (9). If required, return to AC voltage meas-
urement with the button FUNC.
3) Apply the test prods to the test object and read the measured
value on the display.
4) In case of DC voltage measurements, a minus sign will pre-
cede the measured value if the negative pole is at the red test
prod and the positive pole is at the black test prod.

5.2 Current measurement

The maximum current to be measured must not exceed 10 A.
Do not accidentally apply a voltage to the meter while the
selector switch is set to a current measuring range (µA, mA,
A) or while the test leads are connected to the jacks
and COM (5); the meter and the voltage source may be dam-
aged.
The measuring ranges of 2 A and 10 A are not protected by
fuse. Special care must be taken.
1) Connect the black test lead to the jack COM (5). In case of
currents between 200 mA and 10 A max., connect the red test
