Cutter wheel setting
1.
If the cutter wheel is placed (too high) on the upper radius of the drum rim, it may work upwards and
finally lift the device off the drum.
2.
If the cutter wheel is placed (too low) on the lower radius, it may jam in the drum lid and bring the device
to a standstill.
3.
The optimum is to put the cutter wheel on the flat part of the drum rim, between the upper and lower
radius.
Adjusting cutting height
1.
The spindle collar adjusts the cutting height
2.
To do this place the device on the drum and loosen the hexagonal head screw on the spindle collar.
3.
Press the device against the drum and move the cutter wheel until it sits in the right position on the
drum rim.
4.
The cutter wheel is kept in position by the weight of the device while the device is pressed against the
drum rim by turning the T-handle.
5.
While the cutter wheel is held firmly by the clamping action of the device, move the spindle collar
downwards to the right on the cutter wheel spindle, until it is located firmly against the thrust washer of
the front housing.
6.
Tighten the spindle collar screw to prevent the collar turning on the shaft. Do not overtighten the screw!
7.
Check operation while the device is running round the drum
Hazard sources
Earth device in accordance with the regulations to avoid serious injuries or fatal accidents due to electric
shock!
Do not operate electrical devices in a wet environment!
Only use the electric voltages indicated on the motor rating plate!
In case of short power cut the device may start up again automatically if the power switch is left in the
"ON" position. In case of power cut switch off the device!
When the power is switched on keep all body parts a safe distance from the cutter wheel and roller!
If the device stops because of obstructions between cutter wheel and roller, the device must without fail
be switched off before rectifying the fault.
Take care when removing the cut drum rim! Wear leather gloves when handling!
Turn off the power before starting maintenance and repair work!
The electric drum opener must not be used on devices that contain explosives or combustible
substances! Risk of explosion!
Do not use device in an explosive environment!
Keep power cable away from cutter mechanisms to avoid damage!
Replace damaged or worn cable before continuing to use the device!
In case of motor damage replace the motor before reusing!
When cutting seriously battered drums there is a danger of the device falling off the drum!
When mounting the device keep the necessary distance between the cutter wheel and the driver roller,
as otherwise the cutting edge of the cutter wheel may be damaged!
To prevent the device slipping off, ensure that the cutter wheel is touching the drum rim before the
device is released for any reason whatever!
Do not overtighten the T-handle to avoid overloading the motor!
