Important notes on clipping

− Choose a guide comb with a higher number at first until you are familiar
with the clipper.
− In order to get a feel for how much hair the clipper takes off with the
selected guide comb, start with an inconspicuous area that has been
clipped before and needs tidying up.
− If you are taking off too much hair, choose a guide comb with a higher
number, if you want more hair taken off, choose one with a lower number.
− As a general guide, start clipping behind the shoulders and work towards
the back and down the sides. For smooth clipping, hold the pet with your
free hand and pull the skin tight. Take particular care when clipping more
sensitive areas. Use a larger size guide comb when blending from shorter to
longer sections of the coat, and for the legs.
− Always go with the natural lie of the coat, cutting against the growth
direction will cut off more and leave the coat shorter.
− It is normal that the clipper becomes hot during use. However, take care
not to burn your pet with hot blades. Switch off the clipper regularly during
clipping to prevent the clipper blades becoming too hot. If necessary, take
off the guide comb and apply a few drops of lubricating oil
clipper blades. Wipe off any excess and start again. See chapter "Oiling the
clipper blades".
− Do not use water to cool the clipper blades. Oiling the clipper blades
regularly during use will also keep them cleaner, which means they will cut
better.
