Replace the battery of the CODE! Key if the
battery status display (18) no longer lights up
when buttons (15) or (16) are actuated. (The
machine can then be unlocked or locked at least

Problems, faults

fully inserted.
• The machine's electronic system must be acti-
vated: Press the trigger switch (10) briefly - the
LEDs (6)
and (7)
• The battery pack (14) for your machine must
not be flat. Charge in the battery charger if
necessary.
• Was the CODE! Key held correctly against the
machine? i.e. maximum distance approx. 15
cm. Align the transmitter (17) in the CODE! Key
vertically in relation to the receiver (8) of the
machine. See illustration on page 3.
• You wish to replace the old code with a new
one. The machine and the inserted battery
pack must be unlocked before doing this! See
section 8.6.
• If the machine (or the inserted battery pack)
has already been provided with a code: Has
the code valid for this machine (or for the
inserted battery pack) been set at the 3 code
wheels (19)?
• For certain procedures, both buttons must be
pressed simultaneously for at least 3 seconds
(refer to the respective section if necessary).
Note: Press with both thumbs - one per button.
• Forgotten your code: Your Metabo dealer will
assist you. If you have not noted your code, it
may be necessary to send the machine to
Metabo for unlocking.
• The battery status display (18) at the CODE!
Key does not light when the buttons (15) or (16)
are pressed: Is the battery of the CODE! Key
flat? Battery inserted wrong way round? (Spare
batteries are available at filling stations or elec-
trical shops.)
• The machine does not start up and the LED (7)
and /or (6) at the machine flashes red: Machine
and /or battery pack is locked. Unlock the
battery pack, see section 8.5.
• You wish to replace the old code with a new

pack must be unlocked before doing this! See
section 8.6.
• The machine starts up briefly and then stops:
An unlocked battery pack was previously
inserted. The machine has checked the
inserted battery pack and recognised that it is
unlocked. The CODE! system prevents contin-
uation of work. Unlock the battery pack, see
section 8.5.
• The machine starts up after a short delay: A
locked battery pack was previously inserted.
The machine has checked the inserted battery
pack and recognised that it is unlocked. This
short delay is normal machine behaviour.

Information on special applications
The practical application of the Metabo CODE!
system is very flexible. The following information
can help with your special application:
• Each battery pack can be assigned its own
code; it must not be identical to that of the
machine.
• You can also use several CODE! Keys.
9 Tips and Tricks
Only moderate pressure is required for hammer
drilling and chiselling. Applying a high degree of
pressure does not increase performance.
When drilling deep holes, remove the drill bit peri-
odically from the hole to remove dust.
When drilling in tiles and other brittle materials:
Set the operating mode to
10 Maintenance
The vent slots of the machine should be cleaned
periodically.
11 Accessories
Use only genuine Metabo accessories.
If you need any accessories, check with your
dealer.
For dealers to select the correct accessory, they
need to know the exact model designation of your
power tool.
See page 4.
