WEEE return option
Separate collection of waste equipment:
Electrical and electronic equipment that has become waste is referred to as WEEE. Owners of WEEE must
dispose of it separately from unsorted municipal waste. Old appliances do not belong in household waste,
but in special collection and return systems.
Batteries and accumulators as well as lamps: Owners of old appliances must separate old batteries and
accumulators that are not enclosed in the old appliance from the old appliance before handing them in at a
collection point. This also applies to lamps that can be removed from the WEEE without destroying it. If the
WEEE is to be prepared for reuse with the participation of a public waste management authority, batteries
and accumulators as well as lamps do not have to be removed.
Options for the return of WEEE: Owners of waste equipment from private households can return it free of
charge to the collection points of the public waste management authorities or to the take-back points set
