INSTRUCTION MANUAL
Wheelchair Esfinge, Pirámide, Ópera, Obelisco
ENGLISH
This wheelchair is designed for frequent or occasional use by a single
occupant of up to 100 kg (Opera)/110 kg (Sphinx, Pyramid, Obelisk)
and can be used indoors and outdoors. The wheelchair can be
manually moved forwards and backwards.
Notice
Notice to the user and/or patient: any serious incident that has occurred
in relation to the product should be reported to the manufacturer and to
the competent authority of the Member State in which the user and/or
patient is established.
Indications
The wheelchair is used as a mobility tool for disabled people, patients
and elderly people and patients.
Folding and unfolding the wheelchair: To fold the wheelchair, simply
lift the centre edge of the seat upholstery from below. To unfold, tilt the
wheelchair slightly to one side to lift the wheels off the floor. Then press
down on one or both seat rails. Before folding the chair, completely
remove the footrests or make sure they are fixed and in an upright
position.
Footrest
Locking the wheels: Push the wheel locks forward until they engage in
the locked position. Do not attempt to sit down or stand up without
having
activated
the
brakes.
Always
simultaneously.
Adjusting the length of the footrests: The position of the footrests
(standard - flat - or raised) can be adjusted to suit the length of the
user's legs. The footrest should be adjusted to support the weight of the
thighs. If the footrest adjustment is too long, the thighs will be
pressed under the front of the seat upholstery. If the footrest
adjustment is too short, the user's knees will rise and the buttocks
will have to bear excessive weight. Both situations lead to an
increased risk of bedsores. The user's knees and hips should be at
approximately the same level. The lower edge of the footrest should
be at least 7 cm above the floor to allow sufficient clearance when
going over ramps or slopes. To do this, loosen the adjusting screw
with a spanner and fold the foot plates inwards or outwards to
achieve the desired position. Then tighten the screw carefully.

pedals to raise the front wheels, e.g. when climbing a kerb. To do
Handles
this, push the rear support pedals down with one foot. Do not lift the
small front wheels by pushing down on the handles, as this could
damage the wheelchair.
- Climbing a kerb: Approach the kerb from the front. The caregiver
Seat
should use the rear support pedals to raise the front wheels and
lower them onto the kerb once the kerb has been raised. Finally, the
caregiver should push the wheelchair forward, lifting it slightly to
raise the kerb if necessary.
- Getting off a kerb: Place the front wheels in front of the kerb edge.
The caregiver should use the support pedals to raise the front
wheels and tilt the occupant back slightly. While keeping the wheels
up, lower the wheelchair slightly towards the kerb.
Warning: When lowering a kerb, the front wheels should be raised
to prevent the occupant from falling. These are recommendations
only; they may not be suitable for all cases.

Cleaning and maintenance
To clean the product, use a slightly damp cloth, never wet, and be sure
to dry it afterwards with another clean, dry cloth. Do not use solvents,
bleach, synthetic detergents, wax polishes, aerosols or other abrasives
that may damage the product.
Important points to note:
The user or caregiver must check the safety of the wheelchair on a
regular basis.
1. Check the handgrips and non-slip rubber pads and make sure that
they are solid and secure.
2. For a correct fit, check the wheel locks and ensure that the large
wheels are locked when they are activated.
3. Check all bolts, nuts and joints to ensure that they remain solid.
4. If the wheelchair is fitted with tyres, check that the tyre pressure is
correct.
5. Check that the adjusted length of the footrest is correct.
6. If other conditions affecting safety are present, discontinue use of the
wheelchair.
7. Remember to engage the wheelchair lock before transferring to or
from the wheelchair.
8. Do not lean forward in the wheelchair unless both feet are flat on the
floor. This is especially important for users with heavy casts with raised
footrests.
Make sure that the brakes are activated before
getting up or sitting in the wheelchair.
Do not stand on the footrests when getting out of
the chair, as the wheelchair may tip over.
Keep the wheelchair away from fire.
