SEPARATING TIMING CHAIN

Secure the exposed timing chain housing with a clean
workshop cloth against accidentally falling parts.
1. Install the chain release tool (1) together with the
pressure spindle (11).
2. Place the chain release tool (1) over the timing chain
and position it so that the required thrust piece (8 or 9)
lies on the rollers of the rivet link.
3. Turn the spindle till the first resistance. Note: When
turning the spindle further, make sure that the pins of
the rivet link are pressed into the holes of the outer link
to prevent damage to the chain link.
4. Turn the spindle further with a wrench until the pins of
the chain link are pushed out.
5. Loosen the screw of the pressure spindle (11) and
remove the tool from the old timing chain. Remove the
pressed out chain link pins.
