• The appliance may not be switched on with the aid of an external time switch, or by a sepa-
rate system with remote control.
• Be careful when using the appliance outdoors.
• Never use the appliance in damp or wet locations.
• Thoroughly clean the appliance after use (see Cleaning and Maintenance).
• Use solely the base supplied with the kettle. Never use the base for other purposes.
• Remove the kettle from the base, and fill with water from the tap. Never fill the it above the
'max' level.
• Do not switch on the appliance before you have filled it with water. Fill only with cold water.
• The kettle's lid must remain securely closed whilst the appliance is in use.
• Never open the lid when the water is still boiling.
• Use the appliance only to boil or heat water. Never use it for other liquids.
• Fill the kettle with at least 0.6 litre of water.
• Allow the appliance to cool to room temperature before storage.

When using the kettle for the first time boil three jugs of water, and dispose of the boiled water.
This will remove the last traces from the manufacturing process.
H OW TO BOI L WAT E R
1. Place the machine on a flat surface.
2. Fill the kettle with the required quantity of water (at least 0.6 litres). See water-level indi-
cator.
3. Close the lid by releasing the flap on the handle.
