Intermittent traction
In intermittent traction, the bar display indicates
the traction in the cord in relation to traction
force and base force. If the traction in the cord
is equal to the traction force set (indicated on
display [8]), the top LED is lit.
If the traction in the cord is equal to the base
force set (indicated on display [9]), the lowest
LED is lit. All intermediate values are indicated
by the LED's in between.
Changing the changeover speed during the
treatment
During treatment, the bar display normally in-
dicates the traction phase. The changeover
speed set can be indicated by pressing the
changeover speed push-button [6], and can
be adjusted by turning the central control knob
[13]. The changeover speed value will remain
on the display for 10 seconds, after which it
automatically returns to indicating the traction
phase.
[8] Display for traction force/hold time
This display indicates the traction force set, or
the hold time. Display of the traction force set
can be selected with push-button [2]; display
of the hold time of the traction force can be
selected with push button [3].
The indicated traction force must be multiplied
by 10 to give the value in Newtons, i.e. '20' on
the display is equivalent to 20 x 10 = 200 N.
Display mode during treatment
During treatment, the display normally shows
the set traction force [2]. If the hold time push-
button is pressed, the hold time will be dis-
played for 10 seconds. The hold time can now
be adjusted by turning the central control knob
[13]. The new hold time value will be shown for
10 seconds, after which the display automati-
cally returns to indicating the traction force.
[9] Display for base force/hold time
In intermittent traction, this display indicates the
base force set or the hold time. Display of the
base force can be selected with push-button
[4]; display of the hold time of the base force
can be selected with push-button [5].
The indicated base force must be multiplied
by 10 to give the value in Newtons, i.e. '20' on
the display is equivalent to 20 x 10 = 200 N.

[12] Treatment time display
The display does not light after switching on,
or after termination of treatment. It only lights
during intermittent traction, when the push-but-
tons base-force or base-force hold time are
pressed (see [4], [5]).
Display mode during treatment
During treatment, the display normally shows
the set base force. If the hold time push-button
[5] is pressed, the hold time will be displayed
for 10 seconds. The hold time can now be ad-
justed by turning the central control knob [13].
The new hold time value will be shown for 10
seconds, after which the display automatically
returns to indicating the base force.
200 N)
This push-button is used for setting
traction forces exceeding 200N.
These can only be set if the > 20
push-button has been pressed. In
other words, a high traction force has to be
specifically selected. To indicate that the > 20
selector push-button has to be pressed, a yel-
low LED in the push button flashes and the
buzzer sounds briefly. After selection, the LED
is lit continuously.
When this push-button is pressed, a
green LED in the push-button lights
to indicate that the treatment time
parameter has been selected.
The treatment time can now be set by turning
the central control knob [13] and the set value
is indicated on display [12]. The treatment time
can be set between 0 and 60 minutes in steps
of 1 minute.
The treatment time must be set before treat-
ment can start.
This display indicates the treatment time set
(or remaining) in minutes. The maximum treat-
ment time that can be set is 60 minutes. A flash-
ing dot indicates that the timer is running. After
the treatment time has elapsed, a buzzer sounds
for 4 seconds and the traction force is reduced
to the minimum value at a speed correspond-
ing to the changeover speed [6], [7].
