3 Getting started

Peel the protective film from the face
and back of the PineTime. Place it in
its charging cradle so that the
charging port on the back of the
device and corresponding pins on the
cradle line up (3). The watch should
snap firmly into place using magnets
embedded in the cradle.
Connect the USB cord into a socket
delivering 5W (1A 5V) - a USB 3.0
port on a laptop is an ideal source of
power for the PineTime. The
PineTime should boot instantly and
display charging status. The watch
can be manually power cycled by
holding down the power button (1).
Remove the PineTime when fully
charged.
Your PineTime is pre-programmed with an open firmware called InfiniTime. It provides all the
functionalities of your new smartwatch: watch faces, stop watch, step counting, heart rate monitoring and
more.
More functionality becomes available once you pair your smartwatch to a Bluetooth Low Energy( BLE)
capable device such as smartphones or computers. The PineTime can run alternative open firmware(s)
too; for more information please read following articles:

3.1 Pairing with an Android, Linux or iOS device
The PineTime running InfiniTime can be paired with a wide range of devices, notably also the PinePhone.
To pair the PineTime with a smartphone or computer you'll need a companion app. Every major mobile
platform has a companion app that supports the PineTime. Here are some some examples:
- Gadgetbridge (https://gadgetbridge.org/) on Android
- Amazfish (https://github.com/piggz/harbour-amazfish) on Linux (desktop and mobile)
- Siglo (https://github.com/alexr4535/siglo) also on Linux (desktop and mobile)
- NRFConnect on Android and iOS also provides a limited set of functionalities
These are just a few of the options at your disposal. For a complete list please see the Wiki:
https://wiki.pine64.org/wiki/PineTime#Companion_Apps
Companion apps open a wide range of functions, including: heart rate tracking using PineTime's HR
monitor (4), displaying music controls on the LCD (2), turn-by-turn navigation on the LCD, notifications of
incoming calls and text messages as well as email and chat notifications, just to name a few.
