WARNING AGAINST ELECTRICAL VOLTAGES
Select a suitable location for your grounding system. It must:
• be at least 10 m away from other grounding systems, e.g. house grounding, telephone or power
lines.
• be away from animals or traffic movements because your grounding system could be damaged by
animals or people.
• be visible to you at all times for maintenance purposes. If you install your power lines inside
buildings, always use insulated high-voltage lines.

6.2 PERFECT FENCE

Regardless of the conductor material of your fence, there are several things to consider that will improve
the conductivity of your fence system:
• Always keep your fence free of vegetation. Do not run your fence through hedges and prevent
branches or bushes from closing the circuit. This will reduce the voltage of your fence and the desired
strength of the current pulse may no longer be strong enough.
• Make sure that the conductor material of your fence does not touch the ground, e.g. due to sagging.
• Only use fence posts with insulators to insulate the conductor material from the post and the earth.
This prevents voltage loss and ensures that the desired current flows through the conductor material
of your fence.
WARNING AGAINST ELECTRICAL VOLTAGES
Areas accessible by the public must be have appropriate and sufficient signage.

6.3 HANDY TIPS

Check your local regulations for fencing an area. You may need a permit. Regularly check that the
electric fencer is working by looking at the flashing indicator light. Check the energiser regularly.
Remove f allen branches, weeds or bushes, as these will cause a short circuit in the fence and thus affect
the fence security. All animals need time to learn to respect the fence. Thus training can take several days
and the fence may be easily adjusted if necessary.
Jumping animals may be difficult to fence in. You may then have to raise the fence in order to achieve best
fence security. Use high-quality insulators. Inferior or cracked insulators and plastic pipes are not recom-
mended because they can cause short circuits.
Use connectors on all steel wire fences to ensure the best possible closed circuit. To ensure that the
electric fence functions properly, the electric fence must be earthed with galvanised grounding posts. In
buildings, under driveways and in places where the earth could lead to corrosion of exposed
galvanized wire, use double insulated cable. Never use electrical cables for household use, as these cables
are designed for a maximum of 500 Volts, which can cause a loss of power.
