POSitiONiNg
The frequency range reproduced by the subwoofer cannot be pinpointed by the human ear. That's
why positioning generally doesn't present any problems. however, it is normally beneficial to place
the unit close to the front speakers. The New Phalanx 203F is a compact subwoofer that can be
positioned either horizontally or vertically or be mounted on the wall.
Horizontal setup: The flat shape means that the subwoofer can also easily be installed in confined
spaces, e.g. under an item of furniture (sideboard, couch). Care should be taken to ensure that the
reflex tubes are not obstructed and are not covered by a wall or any other object. The status display
(3b) should also remain visible.
Vertical setup: When installing vertically, the side in which the speaker and amplifier are fitted should
face a wall. The rubber feet then act as spacers. The rubber pads provided should be glued to the
bottom (see fig. 4).
Wall mounting (e.g. behind a flat-screen TV): To fix the unit securely to the wall, the mounting brackets
provided are screwed to the bottom using the four screws supplied. The subwoofer with the
brackets is then mounted onto suitable screws (not included), which have to be fitted securely to
the wall horizontally at a distance of 326 mm apart (see fig. 5). Please only use screws that are
suitable for the wall material concerned and which will support the weight of the subwoofer!
Note: The subwoofer should not be mounted higher than 30 cm above the floor or another stable surface
(sideboard etc.). The subwoofer should not be mounted in a place where people pass by frequently
(e.g. near a door).

Mains connection (6)
The subwoofer is equipped with an integrated amplifier and needs to be connected to a mains
outlet by means of the supplied mains cable. The subwoofer can be operated on mains voltages of
100 v - 240 v (50-60 hz).
Power-Switch (5), Power-LED (3)
The subwoofer is switched off in position „Off" and on in position „On". The power LED is initially
red (standby). When the subwoofer receives a signal from the receiver, it automatically switches
from standby to normal, the LED then turns green. When signals to the subwoofer stop, it will
automatically switch to standby after around 15 minutes. The power switch should be switched to
„Off" if the machine is not used for longer periods of time.
Line inputs (4)
For connecting to level outputs on a receiver/amplifier (stereo mode), see Fig. 2.
For connecting to an AV receiver with low-level subwoofer output, see Fig. 3.
To connect the cinch NF cable (not included), please use the cinch L adapter provided.
