GB
All electrical connections e.g. extension cable, must
be of an approved waterproof type for outdoor use.
Exten sion cables must be three-core, one of which is
EARTH.
Always fully unwind extension cables before use.
Connection to the mains power supply must be via an
approved residual current device (RCD), with a residu-
al operating current not exceeding 30mA.
MAINTENANCE
There are no user serviceable parts in this appli-
ance. If the appliance appears to be blocked, switch
off the power at the mains, remove the plug from the
socket and check the appliance for blockages (see
'Blockages').
BLOCKAGES
If you suspect the pump has become blocked, switch
off the power at the mains socket remove the plug and
exa mine the turbine. The turbine can be accessed by
remo ving the securing screws in the base and/or sub
base. Alternately try reaching the suspected blockage
through the outlet pipe in the side of the pump.
Always À ush through with clean water after every use.
IMPORTANT: During maintenance or cleaning never
rest the appliance of the on the turbine (impeller).
GENERAL USE
•
This pump is NOT designed for continuous opera-
tion e.g. as a swimming pool or pond circulation
pump.
•
If used as an intermittent pump to circulate water
in an ornamental pond it must be sited in a sump
or behind a suitable barrier to stop pond life being
suc ked into it.
•
Use a rope to lower the pump into deep water -nev-
er lower the pump by its power cord or delivery pipe
at anytime.
•
Ensure there are no obstructions around the inlet
openings around the base of the pump. The inlet
ope nings must be clear of mud or sludge at the bot-
tom of a pool.
•
It would be advisable to stand the pump of a solid
plat form at the bottom of the pool to keep it upright,
if practical to do so.
•
If the pump is used to drain a swimming pool it must
only be used when the pool is completely empty of
people.
6
•
It is important that the À oating switch is allowed to
reach its ON height in the water. It must also be
able to À oat down without obstruction in order for it
to switch off when required.
•
After use allow the pump to run using clean water
for 2-3 minutes in order to remove residues and
parti cles that may have accumulated in the pump
and out let hose.
NOTE:
If the level of water becomes to low, any sludge in the
shaft will dry out more quickly and this may prevent
the pump from restarting. To ensure the pump works
ef¿ ciently the bottom of the shaft must be kept free of
sludge as far as possible and cleaned on a regular ba-
sis when not in use.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Automatic Operation
When the pump is lowered into the water and the pow-
er is switched on, it will start to operate as soon as the
À o ating switch reaches the minimum activation height
in the water.
Remember: The pump must be carried by, and placed
in the water using the carry handle or if the water is
deep, be lowered on a rope tied to the carry handle.
Manual Operation
Where manual operation is preferred, the motor can be
activated by raising the À oating switch by hand (ON) or
lowering it by hand (OFF).
Ensure the distance between the À oat switch and the
latch holder is not too small as to restrict the up and
down movement of the À oat switch.
