SHAVINGS EXTRACTION
1. Set the button (11) to point to the extraction port (6)
depending on which side of the planer you want the
shavings to be extracted.
2. For efficient removal of dust and shavings you can
connect the adapter (12) to a dust extraction system
or a vacuum cleaner. Thus you will ensure safe and
clean working environment.
DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT
WARNING: Always ensure that the tool is
switched off and unplugged from the power supply
before making adjustments, installing or removing
blades.
1. To replace the drive belt first take out the four cross-
head screws securing the drive belt cover (13) on the
left side of the planer viewed from the rear.
2. Remove the worn out belt by pulling it sideways off
the top pulley while turning the bottom pulley by hand.
Use a soft brush to clean the pulleys and the sur-
rounding area.
NOTE: Wear eye protection when cleaning out the pul-
ley area.
3. Use the four straight (continuous) „V" profiles on the
inner belt side to place the new belt over the bottom
pulley. Adjust the other side of the belt around the up-
per pulley and turn it until it is stretched and engages
both pulleys.
4. Check that the belt runs evenly while turning it by
hand.
5. Replace the cover and tighten the four cross-head
screws, ensuring that the longer screws enter the
openings at the front side of the cover.
6. Plug the machine, switch it on and run it for one minute
to make sure the motor and the belt operate properly.

VII - Maintenance
WARNING: Always ensure that the tool is
switched off and unplugged before attempting to per-
form inspection or maintenance.
Regularly check that all the fixing screws are tight. They
may vibrate loose over time.
Re-lubricate all moving parts at regular intervals.

GENERAL INSPECTION
When the carbon brushes are worn out, both brushes
must be replaced simultaneously with genuine brushes
at SPARKY service centre for warranty and post-war-
ranty service.
If the replacement of the supply cord is necessary, this
has to be done by the manufacturer or his agent in order
to avoid a safety hazard.
CLEANING
For safe operation always keep the machine and its ven-
tilation slots clean.
Regularly check to see if any dust or foreign matter has
entered the grills near the motor and around the switch-
es. Use a soft brush to remove any accumulated dust.
Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes whilst cleaning.
If the body of the tool needs cleaning, wipe it with a soft
damp cloth. A mild detergent can be used.

VIII - Warranty
The guarantee period for SPARKY power tools is deter-
mined in the guarantee card.
Faults due to normal wear, overloading or improper han-
dling will be excluded from the guarantee.
Faults due to defective materials implemented as well as
defects in workmanship will be corrected free of charge
through replacement or repair.
The complaints for defective SPARKY power tools will
be recognized if the machine is sent back to the dealer
or is presented to the authorised warranty service centre
undismantled, in its initial condition.
