1. IMPORTANT: Control must be installed in vertical position
as shown. When replacing an old control, drain tank to
level of air volume control tapping.
2. Install the 1-1/4" x 1/4" reducing adapter (on most tanks
this is a 1-1/4" x 1/4" bushing) into tapping in tank, as
shown, using 1 Teflon™ tape or
threads only.
3. Screw AVC onto adapter, using upper (horizontal) tapping
in control at A. NOTICE: Avoid cross-threading.
4. Connect tubing to control with a compression fitting
screwed into lower tapping at B; use 1/4" OD plastic tubing.
5. If a combination vacuum/pressure gauge is available,
attach it to suction connection on pump and turn on. At
least 5" (127mm) of mercury vacuum is required for AVC
to function. On deep well pumps (with two pipes on the
inlet side) adjust vacuum by turning regulator screw
counterclockwise. Adjust regulator, if required, before
attaching AVC tubing to pump.

6. Complete installation by removing gauge and connecting
free end of AVC tube to pump suction connection. If air
control is operating correctly it will be full of water before
each pump cycle (after pressure tank has initially filled).
Plastic ball should be near top of AVC. When pump starts,
AVC should fill with air, causing the ball to descend to
bottom of chamber and remain there until pump shuts off.
If this does not occur, check for air leaks in tubing connec-
tions and adjust pump's regulator.
7. Control is ready to operate and will maintain adequate air
supply in tank. This control will handle the air requirements
on tanks up thru 82 gallon (310 L) capacity.
