Identifying the Product
Every product is identified by a name plate. It shows the model
("Type"), the serial number, and the manufacturer. The first two digits
of the serial number represent the year of manufacture.

Understanding the Product
3.1
Product Description
The SPG 2.0 is a data logger to generate reports for butt-weld ing
machines for plas tics, which has ba si cal ly three func tions:
• Guiding the operator through the welding process;
• Monitoring all the relevant parameters during the welding pro-
cess;
• Generating a protocol to report the welding process.
The product can be used both with on-site and with in-shop machines
and it can in principle be connected to any welding machine. Upon
en ter ing the type of plas tic, the pipe di am e ter, and the wall thick ness,
the unit cal cu lates all the pa ram e ters that are critical for the welding
process, tak ing into ac count the selected welding machine. The entire
weld ing pro cess is au to mat i cal ly saved to a report and can be exported
in different ways for purposes of analysis and further processing.
The required pipe jointing and traceability data can be entered using
the cursor keys (see first Info in Sect. 4.1), a RFID chip card or a bar
code scanner.
For various applications, the SPG 2.0 can be specifically configured in
the Con fig u ra tion Menu (see section 4.2).
