WARNING
WARNING:
Never place any object or part of the body in the area where the strap-roller runs.
Make sure the electric motor is off when capstan is used manually; people with a remote control (remote control or con-
trol system via radio) might accidentally operate the capstan.
CAPSTAN USE
Start the boat engine; use the control at hand to turn on the capstan. If the capstan stops and the magnetic-hydraulic (or mag-
netic thermal) cut-out has tripped, re-arm the cut-out and wait a few minutes before restarting.
Now power the capstan and you can wind the strap-roller around the sprocket. Be careful that it is properly wound.

WARNING:
make sure the electrical
power to the motor is switched off
when working manually on the cap-
stan. Carefully remove the strap-roller from
the drum.
Quick
capstans are manufactured with
®
materials resistant to marine environments.
In any case, any salt deposits on the outside
must be removed periodically to avoid cor-
rosion and damage to the equipment. The
parts where salt may have built up should
be washed thoroughly with fresh water.
Take out the base plate (6) once a year
following the strap-roller fixing steps on
page 8.
Clean all the parts removed to avoid cor-
rosion and grease (use grease suitable for
marine environment).
Remove any oxide deposits from the ter-
minals of the the reversing contactor unit;
grease them.
