The ER9 and RC13 filters do not fulfil the minimum attenuation requirements according to
the EN 352-2. For daily noise exposure levels L
(for the RC13), a residual sound level at the ear of L
is halved to 4 h, a level at the ear of L

The hearing protectors are suitable for 8 h use per day in following areas:
• Swimming pool (except in the machine rooms)
• Fitness Gym room
• Music school teachers except: percussion and brass / wind instruments,
• Individual acoustical musicians, except brass / wind instruments, singers and percussion,
• Pubs
• Restaurants (without loud music)
• Gardening with power tools up till 400 h/yr,
• Call centers
• Aircraft passenger cabin
• Garment Industry
• Laundry Service & Dry Cleaning
• Harbour Outdoor worker
• Forklift driver (without loud background noise)
• Printing Houses except energy supply dept.
• Plastic & Leather Industry.
The typical noise situations in these areas, the daily noise exposure level at the ear L
not exceed the value of 85 dB(A). Thus a secure protection is generally assured by ER 9 and
the RC 13. For particular cases with unusual loud situations the ER9/RC13 filters may not
be suitable.

The attenuation of the ER9 / RC13 do not fulfill the EN352 requirement, but do satisfy all relevant
requirements of the PPE directive 89/686/EEC.
