The values specified are emission levels and are not necessarily safe work levels. As there is a rela-
tion between the emission and immission levels, it cannot be reliably used for determining the neces-
sary additional precautionary measures.
Influencing factors on the current immission level of the labour force include the properties of the work-
room, other noise sources etc. such as the number of machines and other neighbouring processes
and the time span for which an operator is exposed to noise. Safe immission levels can vary from
country to country. Nevertheless, this information can help the operator of the machine to better as-
sess risks and hazards.
