Place the appliance on a steady even surface and connect the plug to wall socket.
uSinG thE KnifE SharpEnEr
• T he sharpening wheel starts rotating when you press down the button and stop rotating
when the button is released.
• Collect the knife/knives to be sharpened.
• Press down the button with left-hand thumb and hold the knife in your right hand.
Keep your fingers away from the knife to avoid injury!
• H olding the handle firmly and the blade facing away from you, place the heal of the
blade, sharp edge pointing downwards into the wheel applying a slight pressure and
pull it slowly towards you for approximately 3 seconds.
• C heck the sharpening result after 3 to 5 times. Repeat until desired sharpening is achieved.
• Release the button.
• Not suitable for knives with a serrated edge or for sharpening scissors.

• It's important to position the knife straight in the track during sharpening.
• Do NOT press the knife down - pull it through the wheel applying only a slight pressure.
I f you press too hard the blade of the knife will run against the black edge of the wheel
and this may cause marks on the blade.
• Wipe off the knife blade after the sharpening is finished.
• Never stick your fingers into the rotating wheel.
• The sharpening wheel works on both stainless steel and carbon steel.

Cleaning shall not be done by children.
Wipe off the outer housing with a damp cloth and dry. The sharpening wheel can be cleaned
with a small brush (eg. a toothbrush) that is held towards the wheel while rotating. If you
wish to remove any grinding dust which is collected inside the knife sharpener, unscrew the
lid positioned underneath the appliance and shake out and/or use a vacuum cleaner to suck
out the dust from the opening. Put back the lid and tighten the screws. Always unplug from
the mains supply before removing the lid.

• Check that the cord is not hanging over the edge of the table.
• Do not place the appliance on or near hotplates, open fire or similar.
• H andle knives to be sharpened with care! Make sure that only the blade of the knife is in
contact with the rotating sharpening wheel.
• Never stick your fingers into the rotating wheel.
• Always unplug the appliance when not in use and when cleaning.
• A lways examine appliance, cord and plug for damage before use. If the supply cord is
damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or a similarly qualified person in
order to avoid a hazard.
• The appliance is for domestic use only.
• I f the appliance is used for purposes other than intended, or is not handled in
accordance with the instruction manual, the full responsibility for any consequences
will rest with the user. The warranty excludes any damage to the product through misuse.
• D o not place or store appliance where it can fall or be pulled into a bath or sink. Do not
place in or drop into water or other liquid.
• D O NOT attempt to repair the appliance. There are no user serviceable parts. For service,
send to a HoMedics Service Centre. All servicing of this appliance must be performed by
authorised HoMedics service personnel only.
• DO NOT carry this appliance by the cord or use cord as a handle.
• N EVER operate the appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is not working
properly, if it has been dropped or damaged, or dropped into water. Return it to the
HoMedics Service Centre for examination and repair.

ailment that would limit the user's capacity to operate the controls.
• D O NOT reach for an appliance that has fallen in water or other liquids. Switch off at the

GuarantEE
This product is intended for domestic use only. Salter will repair or replace the product, or
any part of this product, free of charge if within 2 years of the date of purchase, it can be
shown to have failed through defective workmanship or materials. This guarantee covers
working parts that affect the function of the product. It does not cover cosmetic deteriora-
tion caused by fair wear and tear or damage caused by accident or misuse. Opening or
taking apart the product or its components will void the guarantee. A product that requires
modification or adaptation to enable it to operate in any country other than the country for
which it was designed, manufactured, approved and/or authorised, or repair of products
damaged by these modifications are not covered under this guarantee. Salter shall not be
responsible for any type of incidental, consequential or special damages. Claims under
guarantee must be supported by proof of purchase and be returned carriage paid to Salter
(or local Salter appointed agent if outside the UK). Care should be taken in packing the
product so that it is not damaged while in transit. This undertaking is in addition to a
