Preparation

Ensure that the following installation requirements are met.
Rack space - The chassis requires a 2U rack space and is best mounted in a 4-post, 19-inch rack or cabinet. It can
also be mounted in a 2-post, 19-inch rack, but this requires a deep shelf. The Enterprise Profiler requires a 2U
rack space for each of its modules.
Power and cooling - As listed in the product specifications.
Network connections - All chassis require an IP address on a network. Enterprise Profiler requires a minimum of
three IP addresses (one for each chassis). Sensor and Express also require access to taps or mirror ports for
monitoring traffic. Ensure that cables have the correct connector type for your appliance. All cables are straight-
through.
Data sources - The appliance must be receiving traffic information from at least one source in order for you to
verify successful installation and configuration. For Sensor or Express, set up the taps or mirror ports. If an
Express or Gateway is to receive flow data from NetFlow-enabled devices, enable the SNMP ifIndex persistence
feature of the NetFlow source to ensure consistency of interface reporting by the Profiler or Express. Flow data
sources must send data to the IP address and port that you will assign to the Express or Gateway.
Access to network - If you lock down your network on a port-by-port basis, ensure that the following ports are
open between Cascade appliances: TCP/22, TCP/443, TCP/5432, TCP/8443, TCP/41017, UDP/123, UDP/161,
and 42999. Also, ports used by flow data sources must be open between the source devices and the Express or
Gateway. Additionally, ports to which the Gateway is forwarding flow data must be open.
If you are installing multiple Cascade products, it is recommended that you install Sensors and Gateways before
installing Profiler or Express appliances. Profiler and Express appliances must be receiving information before their
installations can be verified.

Mounting and powering

1. Locate the rail kit installation instructions. These are on a sheet of paper in the Accessory box.
2. Mount the rails in the rack as described in the instructions.
3. Place the chassis into the component mounting channels of the rails and ensure that the component release levers
lock the chassis securely in the rails, as described and illustrated in the instructions.
4. Press the slide extension release levers and slide the chassis into the rack.
5. Connect the power cable to the chassis and to rack power. The system starts up automatically when power is
connected.
The bezel can be locked in place. The key is provided in the accessory box.
