Read these instructions for use carefully before using the appliance and save them for future
reference.
Check if the voltage indicated on the bottom of the appliance corresponds to the local mains
voltage before you connect the appliance.
Plug the appliance into an earthed wall socket.
If the mains cord is damaged, it must be replaced by Philips, a service centre authorised by
Philips or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
Do not immerse the appliance or the mains cord in water or other liquids.
Position the appliance in such a way that:
- the mains cord does not hang over the edge of a table or worktop;
- children cannot touch the appliance when it is in use;
- it stands on a flat, stable surface and there is sufficient free space around it.
Always unplug the appliance after use.
Keep the appliance out of the reach of children.
Do not let the appliance operate unattended. Do not operate it under or near curtains or
other flammable materials or under wall cabinets, as bread may burn.
Avoid touching the metal parts of the appliance as they become very hot during use.
Let the appliance cool down completely before cleaning it or putting it away.
Never touch the cooking plates with sharp or abrasive items, as this will damage the non-
stick coating.
Always clean the appliance after use.
Make sure the mains cord does not come into contact with or too close to the hot surfaces
of the appliance.
Always preheat the cooking plates before putting any items between them.
Before first use
Remove any stickers and wipe the body of the toaster with a damp cloth.
Clean the plates with a damp cloth or sponge.
The appliance may produce some smoke when you use it for the first time.This is normal.

Using the appliance
Never let the sandwich maker operate unattended.

Insert the plug into the wall socket (fig. 1).
The power-on light and the heating-up light go on.

Prepare the ingredients for your toasted sandwich.
