This table top is made of particleboard with
a 3.5 mm layer of solid wood.
The table top is pre-treated at the factory
with wood oil and no other treatment is nec-
essary until the surface starts to wear. When
the surface starts to wear or become dry,
it's time to treat it with wood treatment oil
from your local IKEA store. Start by cleaning
the surface and preparing it by sanding it
lightly in the direction of the grain using fine
sandpaper or Scotch-Brite™. Wipe away any
sanding dust with a dry cloth. Use a cloth
or brush to apply the wood treatment oil in
a thin, even coat. Leave to penetrate the
surface for approximately 15 minutes. Wipe
off any unabsorbed oil with a dry soft cloth.
After the first treatment, sand the surface
lightly with fine sandpaper. Let the surface
dry and repeat the treatment after a few
days. To ensure that the table top will retain
its durable surface for many years to come,
treat it with wood treatment oil when it
starts to wear or become dry.
