RPM Sensor Installation (Telluride 4X4)
Tools needed:
1.5mm hex wrench
2.0mm hex wrench
2.5mm hex wrench
Part required:
RPM Sensor (Part #6520)
Telemetry Trigger Magnet and Holder (Part #6538)
Slipper Clutch Assembly (Part #6878, sold separately)
Pinion Gear, 13-T (32-pitch) (Part #3943, sold separately)
Note: Traxxas models may have some Telemetry-ready parts installed from the factory.
Please inspect the model before installation.
Required for Telemetry Expander operation:
• TQi radio system with #6510 docking base
• Traxxas Link receiver #6518
• Apple iOS mobile device (visit Traxxas.com for a list of current compatible devices)
• Traxxas Link App (latest version available free from the Apple App Store)
Installation Steps:
1. Remove the gear cover using a 2mm hex wrench (A).
2. Remove the motor mount screw using a 2.5mm hex wrench (B); then, remove the
motor/motor plate from the motor mount.
3. Remove the existing pinion gear from the motor shaft using a 1.5mm hex wrench.
Install the new 13-T (32-pitch) pinion gear (part #3943, sold separately).
4. Remove the two 4mm BCS that secure the rear assembly to the top of the chassis (C).
5. Turn the vehicle over and remove the two 4mm BCS (D) that secure the rear assembly
to the chassis.
6. Slide the rear assembly away from the chassis and remove the high-stall gear clutch
assembly.
7. Install the telemetry trigger magnet into the holder (with the red mark facing the front
of the vehicle). Using the three included 2mm CCS, attach the magnet holder to the
spur gear of the new slipper clutch assembly (part #6878, sold separately) (E).
8. Remove the spacer from the motor mount and install the RPM sensor. Secure with the
2mm CCS.
9. Route the RPM sensor wire to the receiver box (avoid moving parts).
10. Remove the receiver box cover and the wire cover using a 2mm hex wrench. Route
the RPM sensor connector into the receiver box, and plug the connector into the slot
marked "RPM" (F).
11. Reinstall the receiver box cover and the wire cover.
Note: Ensure that the blue O-ring is properly seated in the groove around the receiver box.
Apply grease to foam pads. Refer to the vehicle Owner's Manual for detailed instructions on
maintaining a watertight seal.
12. Install the slipper clutch assembly by inserting the drive yoke into the driveshaft and
securing the bearing in the motor mount (G).
Note: Ensure proper gear mesh. Refer to the vehicle Owner's Manual or visit Traxxas.com/
support for detailed instructions.
13. Slide the rear assembly back into the chassis. Ensure the flat sides of the slipper clutch
shaft are aligned with the rear differential (H).
14. Secure the rear assembly with the four 4mm BCS.
15. Reinstall the motor/motor plate and the gear cover.
