PREPARATION
Kobalt
®
Mounting Kit (Item #0691045, sold separately),
is recommended for the no-drill installation method to the
bed rail lip.
Estimated Assembly Time: Approximately 30 minutes
Tools required: Ratchet wrench with extension and 1/2 in.
deep well socket, tape measure, safety glasses, gloves. A
marker/pencil and drill with 3/16 in. and 3/8 in. drill bits is
required to drill into the bed if using the drill method.
NOTE: If your pick-up is fitted with a plastic drop-in bed liner,
it may need to be drilled, trimmed, or cut for proper installa-
tion of truck storage product.
SERVICE PARTS
Replacement keys are available. Locate & record the key
code on the front of the lock. Customer Service will need
this number to send you a replacement key set. There is a
$10 charge plus shipping and handling for replacement keys.
If your gas spring fails, you will need the item number lo-
cated on the registration decal on the underside of the truck
box lid when you call Customer Service to have the correct
item sent to you. Call Customer Service at 1-888-356-2258
(3KOBALT), 8 a.m. – 8 p.m., EST, Monday ‒ Friday.
WARRANTY
This product carries a limited lifetime warranty to the original
purchaser, only, this product will be free from defects in mate-
rial and workmanship from the date of purchase and continu-
ing the expected lifetime of this product. If the product is
found to be defective in materials or workmanship, please call
1-888-3KOBALT, or return the item to the place of purchase
with a copy of the original sales receipt. The seller will, at its
option, replace the product. The remedy available for this
Warranty shall be limited to the cost of replacing the product,
and not for any other incidental, indirect, or consequential
damages. Any modification or unintended use of this product
shall immediately void all manufacturer's warranties. Manu-
facturer disclaims all liability for injuries to persons or property
resulting from any modification to, or unintended use of these
products. This limited warranty expressly excludes:
• Defects caused by normal wear and tear, cosmetic rust, scratch-
es, accidents, unlawful vehicle operation, or modification to the
product, or any types or repair of a Kobalt
®
Product other than
those authorized or provided by the Manufacturer.
• Defects resulting from conditions beyond the Manufac-
turer's control including, but not limited to misuse, overload-
ing, or failure to assemble, mount or use the Kobalt
Product in accordance with the Manufacturer's written
instructions or guide lines included with the Kobalt
®
or made available to the original purchaser.
• Damage to the contents of the box or vehicle.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may
have other rights that vary from state to state.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
1. LOCATE IN TRUCK BED.
With the truck on a level surface,
place truck box into position on
truck bed. Use tape measure to
center box across truck bed.
Make sure the cover opens fully
without interference.
2. ATTACH BOX TO TRUCK BED.
NO DRILL METHOD using
KOBALT
®
Mounting Kit (Item 691045, sold separately):
Use J-bolts and washers as shown in figure. Place the J-
bolts up from the bottom through the mounting slots in the
sides of the truck box and around the bed lip. If your truck
bed is constructed of aluminum, place vinyl tape strips be-
tween the end of each J-bolt and the bed rail before tighten-
ing with wrench.

DRILL METHOD: Mark the top of the bed rail through the
mounting slots in the truck box (4 locations total). Drill 3/16
in. pilot hole and then 3/8 in. hole at each of these marks. If

bolts, and flat and lock washers (not provided) and tighten to
