Depending on the water you use, minerals and sediment may collect in
the steamer and affect the free flow of steam. Limescale found in tap
water can also affect the performance of the steamer. To reduce this,
we recommend using demineralised or distilled water.
To keep the steamer optimal, maintain your steamer once a month. In
a commercial setting, maintain even more often. We advise you both
remove mineral deposits and descale.
To remove mineral deposits, please follow this procedure. Turn the unit
off and unplug from the power outlet. Remove the hose and telescopic
pole from the base. Wrap up the power cable to avoid it getting wet.
In a large sink or bath, unscrew the drainage value (on the side of the
machine, next to the wheel). Be prepared, water from the inside of
the machine will start to pour out, including any sediment or minerals.
Add water to the water tank and place on the machine so that there
is plenty of water flowing through the unit, flushing it of sediment and
minerals. Continue this process until the water runs clear and tighten
the drainage valve properly.
To descale your steamer, we advise using the descaling crystals that
are found inside the box of this steamer. Add a small amount of crystals
to the water tank (a pinch). After placing the water cap on the tank,
shake the solution and place on the unit. Turn the unit on and direct the
steam out of a window (or ideally do this outside). Leave steaming for
at least ten minutes. Replace the water in the water tank for fresh water
and leave to steam for another ten minutes at least. Repeat as desired.
Your steamer in now descaled.
Re-assemble the appliance and operate as usual.
There are two sachets inside your box for your first two descaling
sessions. Further sachets are available at www.fridja.com.
