10. Install the Header
Non-Steam Door
- Insert the header expander into the header.
- Position the header on top of the door and side panel (if applicable). Slide the header between the expander
jambs, making sure the groove in the header aligns with the tabs on the door and side panel top, or sits plumb on
top of the strike jamb if side panel is not used.
NOTE: Make sure the Kohler logo on the side of the header faces outward.
- Fasten the header in place using the pre drilled hole in the expander jamb as a guide. If there are no pre drilled
holes, drill a hole 1/2"(1.3cm) from the top of each expander jamb using a 9/64" drill bit.
- Using the pre drilled hole as a guide, drill through the header using a 9/64" drill bit. Secure the header to the
expander jamb using two #8 x 5/8" screws.
Steam Door
- The header is already in place.
- Slide the header down while holding the header expander against the ceiling. Make sure the groove in the header
aligns with the tabs on the door and the sidepanel, or sits plumb on the top of the strike jamb if there is no side
panel.
- Fasten the header in place. To fasten the header in place use the pre drilled hole in the expander jamb as a guide,
or, if needed, drill a hole 1/2"(1.3cm) from the top of the expander jamb using a 9/64" drill bit.
- Using the pre drilled hole as a guide, drill through the header using a 9/64" drill bit. Secure the header to the
expander jamb using two #8 x 5/8" screws.
- Make sure the tape is still in place. Do not remove until the silicone sealant has cured(at least 12 hours).
