Installation
IMPORTANT: These fixtures must be electrically
grounded. Failure to do so can result in electric
shock or undesired operation. The recessed housing
must contain grounded brackets to support the 6RLS
springs and provide electrical ground to the fixture.
If the recessed housing is grounded but does not
contain spring retaining brackets, contact factory
to order an adapter kit (V6RLTRB). If the recessed
housing sidewalls and spring retaining brackets are
not grounded, attachment of the fixture ground wire
is required. Consult factory or a qualified electrician
for additional instructions. Connection of the fixture
ground wire is not required when the recessed
housing contains grounded spring retaining brackets.
Power to the recessed housing must be turned off
prior to installing these fixtures. Failure to do so
can cause electric shock, which can result in injury
or death.
1. Remove strap from fixture. If installing into a 5"
recessed housing, install the 56RLSRETROKIT
torsion springs onto the strap in the inner position
(see Figure 3). If installing into a 6" recessed
housing, install the torsion springs in the outer
position (see Figure 4).
2. Snap strap with springs back onto fixture
(see Figure 5).
3. Install the female orange pluggable connector onto
the 6RLS lead wires by pushing wires fully into the
connector ports. Ensure the black lead wire is
installed into the port with the black stripe and the
white lead wire is installed into the unmarked
port (see Figure 6).
4. Install the medium base socket adapter into the
recessed housing socket.
5. Plug connector from step 3 into adaptor from
step 4 by pushing together until fully seated.
6. Insert torsion springs from 6RLS fixture into
corresponding retaining brackets in recessed
housing. Carefully push fixture towards ceiling
until springs pull fixture flush to ceiling.
